Due to increasing demand for higher efficiency lighting systems the industry is making significant changes

Incandescent lamps increasingly being banned

Governments have been passing measures to phase out incandescent light bulbs. In some jurisdictions this has been done through legislation, while in others through voluntary measures. The aim is to encourage use of more energy efficient lighting alternatives. Most countries will have instituted legislation by 2011.

Control gear for fluorescent and HID moving towards electronics

By 2015, 90% of all control gear will be electronic.

Payback for LED systems moving towards critical 2 years

Bringing down the cost of LED lighting to reduce the payback period is viewed as necessary by both public and private sectors
